A straightforward two-star base in Athens' lively Psiri neighbourhood, known for its rooftop Acropolis views and helpful staff.
About
Evripides Hotel is a two-star property set on Evripidou Street in the heart of Psiri, a neighbourhood described as a jumble of graffiti-adorned cottages, antique shops, and ouzeris. It sits roughly 0.8 km from the ancient Eridanos stream, and guests repeatedly highlight its convenience for exploring Athens' main sights, the central market, and the metro to the airport.
The hotel keeps things simple but thoughtful: air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs, a snack bar, a sun terrace, and a rooftop where breakfast is served with a view of the Acropolis. There's also a sauna and massage services, which is unusual for the price point. The reception is open around the clock, and luggage storage is available for travellers with late departures.

8.8Verified guest“The rooftop views of the Acropolis were incredible.”
8.8Verified guest“The location is everything here – easy access to most tourist sites in Athens, Piraeus, and the airport. The street itself feels a bit dodgy at night, but we parked our car on it without any trouble. The neighbourhood transforms in the morning into a great spot for shopping with an Eastern vibe. Highly recommended – the staff and the breakfast terrace views are excellent.”
8.8Verified guest“The breakfast area had a beautiful view, and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. They let me leave my luggage for almost a full day after checkout since I had an evening flight and wanted to sightsee.”
8.8Verified guest“I'd read many reviews before booking that said: good value, great staff, but a sketchy neighbourhood to avoid. I agree with the first two, but I think the neighbourhood is actually one of the highlights. Sure, at first glance you might be put off by the graffiti, the loitering men, and the decaying buildings, and wandering alone at night isn't wise in any unfamiliar place. But Psiri encapsulates a lot of what I love about Athens – hundreds of family-run shops selling everything from garlic to gardening supplies, and it's a five-minute walk to the enormous central market. I spent a morning wandering the stalls of fish, meat, olives, and beans. I even grew to appreciate the graffiti – much of it is well-executed and political. Without romanticising the area, I'd return just to explore more of it.”
8.8Verified guest“Thanks to the staff – they were excellent. Free internet access all day, and I especially appreciated the communication and support from Sara at the reception.”
8.8Verified guest“The hotel was very accommodating, offering to store our luggage while we waited for our overnight train. This made our onward journey seamless.”
